Anode Rod: What Is THAT?

Blog

Today we are going to explain what an anode rod is and how you may know you need to have it replaced.  An anode rod is located on the top of your water heater.

They can be made of various metals, and they are basically a magnet that attracts microscopic metals in your water to it in order to keep them out of your water and preserve your water heater by preventing corrosion.

Do you have a sulfuric smell when you use your hot water? If you smell something like matches or rotten eggs when you take a shower or bath, your anode rod may have gone bad. This is the key indicator that it needs to be replaced.

If you think you need to have your anode rod checked or you have any questions, feel free to give us a call!
